ERIC A. BIRKEN, MD FACS

Dr. Eric Birken is Board Certified in the specialty of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and is one of the founding partners of Lakeside ENT & Allergy. He is currently our Senior Partner-Emeritus. He graduated from Boston University School of Medicine in 1968 and the Otolaryngology Residency Program at the Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York City in 1974. In addition, he was a Research Fellow in Head and Neck Surgery at Mt. Sinai Medical Center. Before moving to this area in 1976, he served as Chief of Otolaryngology at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio.

Dr. Birken is the past president of the Ontario County Medical Society and is their present Secretary-Treasurer. He is the past president of the medical staff at Clifton Springs Hospital, current president of the Clifton Springs Profession Organization, and a current member of the Board of Trustees of the Clifton Springs Hospital. In addition, he is the former Chairman of the Department of Surgery at F. F. Thompson Hospital and Associate Clinical Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Rochester, and an adjunct faculty member of Rochester Institute of Technology in the Physician Assistants program. He is the recipient of the Academy of Otolaryngology Distinguished Achievement Award. He is also a former Health Care Awards Honoree from the Rochester Business Journal. Dr. Birken was also bestowed a Distinguished Achievement Award from the Rochester Academy of Medicine, a rare honor for a physician practicing outside of Rochester.
